The Essentials
La Higuera sleeps a maximum of four guests across two double bedrooms. We cannot accommodate additional guests.
This is an adults-only property. All guests must be aged 18 or over.
Pets are not permitted under any circumstances.
La Higuera is not suitable for guests with limited mobility, walking difficulties, or wheelchair users. The site involves steep steps, significant changes in level, and uneven terrain throughout.
This is a private hire property — when you book La Higuera, it is entirely yours. We do not accept bookings from multiple parties sharing the property simultaneously.
Location & Access
La Higuera is located in Troncones, Guerrero, Mexico — approximately 45 minutes by road from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH).
We strongly recommend hiring a car at the airport for the duration of your stay. La Higuera sits outside the centre of the village, and having your own transport will give you the freedom to explore the coast, visit nearby beaches, and reach the town for supplies at your own pace.
Local taxis available at the airport and in Troncones.
Troncones is a remote village. Mobile signal and internet connectivity can be intermittent. This is part of the magic — but worth knowing in advance.
The nearest town with a supermarket, pharmacy, and ATM is approximately 40 minutes away. We recommend arriving with sufficient cash in Mexican pesos.

Wildlife & the natural environment
La Higuera sits within a semi-tropical climate and is surrounded by lush native vegetation — which means you are genuinely in nature here, and nature has its own inhabitants. Guests should be aware that encounters with wild animals are a normal and wonderful part of life on the Guerrero coast. This may include insects, lizards, iguanas, geckos, spiders, scorpions, and occasional visits from other local wildlife.
We take sensible precautions throughout the property, but we ask all guests to be mindful and treat any wildlife you encounter with calm respect. None of this should alarm you — it is simply the reality of staying somewhere truly wild and beautiful, and most guests find it adds to the magic rather than detracting from it.
Parking
There is private, secure parking for one car at La Higuera. However, guests should be aware that the access road to the property is extremely steep and narrow — it can feel daunting, particularly for less confident drivers or those unfamiliar with mountain driving. We recommend taking it slowly and, if possible, ensuring that whoever is driving feels comfortable with steep gradients before arriving. If you have any concerns about the access road, please do mention it when you enquire and we can advise further.

Staff on site
Due to the extensive semi-tropical forest and grounds at La Higuera, a gardener is present on the property every day. The volume of plant life in a semi-tropical climate means that daily maintenance — including clearing fallen leaves and tending to the grounds around the house — is an essential and ongoing part of keeping the property in the beautiful condition you see it in. A member of staff also attends daily to manage this.
Whilst La Higuera is exclusively yours as a private hire property, guests should be aware that these daily visits are a necessary part of the property's upkeep and will take place during your stay, typically at a considerate time of day. We do everything we can to ensure this is as unobtrusive as possible.
