Welcome to La Higuera

Some places stop you in your tracks. La Higuera is one of them.

Overlooking the wild Pacific coast of Troncones in the State of Guerrero, La Higuera sits amidst a lush semi-tropical forest. This is a place where the boundary between architecture and nature simply dissolves. Where the ocean breeze drifts through open spaces and the horizon stretches so far it feels almost impossible.

This is not your average retreat. This is a place that asks you to slow down, breathe deeply, and actually be somewhere.

La Higuera was born from a deep love of this remarkable stretch of Mexican coastline — and a belief that luxury should never come at the expense of the land, the community, or the culture that makes a place so special.

Troncones is one of those rare corners of Mexico that has held onto its soul. Unhurried. Authentic. Breathtakingly beautiful. We wanted to create a retreat that honoured all of that — a space that felt rooted in its surroundings rather than imposed upon them.

Every design decision, from the carefully planned architectural details to the locally sourced materials and handcrafted furnishings, was made with intention. The result is a retreat that feels as natural as the fig tree it's named after — the higuera — which has quietly stood on the imposing rock behind the house.

What Makes La Higuera Different?

Sustainable by design. We believe that caring for the environment and offering an extraordinary guest experience are not competing priorities — they are the same thing. From rainwater collection to native planting, the use of local materials - every element of La Higuera has been considered with the long term in mind. This is not a sanitised resort experience. La Higuera is a genuine celebration of the Guerrero coast — its people, its traditions, its flavours, and its rhythms. We work with local artisans, source from local producers, and welcome guests into a a contemporary space interlaced with traditional Mexican craftsmanship.

Designed for connection. Whether you're watching the sunset from the roof terrace or the sala deck with a mezcal in hand, exploring the village of Troncones on foot, or simply doing nothing at all on a sun-warmed terrace — La Higuera creates the conditions for real connection. With nature. With the people you love. With yourself.

Intimately small. La Higuera is intentionally intimate. The house has two double bedrooms, meaning your experience here is never crowded or rushed. This is your space, on your terms.
